  • Step-by-step PDF walkthrough
  • Share your progress & connect online
  • Lifetime access
  • Fully downloadable

Type Of Work You Will Learn To Create

The Catalyst wedges are fairly integral to my techniques in this lesson and I recommend them. However, students have successfully completed the lesson with palette knives, key cards & kitchen tools (obviously don't use them afterwards for cooking anymore!).

Essential Supplies

  • Set of primary acrylics - student grade yellow, blue, red, white & burnt umber/van dyke brown
  • Princeton catalyst wedge - no. 1 grey and/or no. 6 white
  • Palette knife - a cheap set of plastic ones is great!
  • Watercolour paper - 300gsm/140lb
  • Paper towels - wet wipes can be handy too

Optional Supplies

  • Wood board - handy to work on especially if you want to do more than one painting simultaneously
  • Masking tape - to tape your paper to the board and create clean edges
  • Princeton catalyst blades & more wedges
  • Brushes and other mark making tools
  • Full set of primary acrylics - cool & warm red, cool & warm yellow, cool & warm blue, artist grade

Who Is This Course For?

This course is great as an introduction to abstract painting and/or to using Catalyst tools for abstract work. It's suitable for beginners and provides lots of explanation about basic art concepts (like colour, colour mixing, composition & contrast) that you will take away into any type of painting you do in the future.

Self-Paced / Fully Downloadable / Lifetime Access

On this workshop you are absolutely free to go at your own pace and work as quickly or slowly as suits your personal needs and circumstances. You will have lifetime access and you can download all class materials to your own device.

About your teacher

front-page-iris-1000Hello creative person! I’m Iris from iris-impressions.com and this website is where I offer online mixed media & art journaling courses and workshops.

I’m a mixed media artist from London and I believe in the magical powers of art! To me making art serves many purposes: fun, relaxation, healing, processing feelings, making pretty things, connecting with others (and more that I can't think of right now!).

I believe in simplicity and clarity when it comes to both painting and teaching. My videos & PDFs don't waste your time and will tell you exactly what you need to know so you can spend more time actually creating art.

We are all on this journey together, learning about how to face our fears and find inspiration. I love sharing honestly about my joys, struggles and discoveries (plus techniques and art supplies!). My courses are a culmination of everything I have learned so far!

I really hope you will join me on A Journey Into Colour!
